The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the timing belt tensioner had failed. During the failure, the valves were bent. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.
