Since I purchased the car in 2003, it has had turning problems and I can't safely make a u-turn when there's oncoming traffic or turn into a parking space. The wheel turns only to a certain point and then stops. It scares the hell out of me and I don't want to drive the car. The VOLVO service dealer, Volvo of Palm Beach, states that the "stops" have to be adjusted periodically. What the hell are "stops" and why are they there in the first place? When it's brought into Volvo for service, the technician makes a temporary adjustment. When I constantly complained about having to bring it in for service so often, one technician said it was because my tires were too wide - hey, Volvo put the tires on the car, not me! The steering shakes significantly between 30-45 mph and, again, they told me it was my tires.
My husband's boss leased the same Volvo and is experiencing the same problems. It is a vehicle defect that Volvo doesn't want to recognize and is putting the safety of each driver in jeopardy. I have also talked other people out of leasing/buying a Volvo because of these problems. When they ask me how I like my car, I let them know with no hesitations.
I will never own another Volvo and neither will members of my family. It's shameful that such an expensive vehicle should demonstrate these problems. My vehicle is only 18 months old with 12000 miles on it because I'm frightened to drive it - I fear for my life every time I get in my Volvo C70.
