I was going on a fishing trip again. Again the Touareg left me dead in the water. The first time it was new and the Ad blue pump failed. This time the light went on to add Ad Blue within 1500 miles. I stopped to refuel and drove another 76 miles where I again stopped to pick up my brother. I tried to start the vehicle and nothing happened. Thinking it may be related to the Ad Blue I added 3 gallons of approved urea solution but when I attempted to start the Touareg again, nothing happened! The trailer lights for the boat and the headlights worked but nothing happened when turning the key. I then noticed the emergency brake would not disengage.
I attempted to move the steering wheel and get it into reverse or park with the key turned--of course that didn't work. I called two separate dealers who could give me no insight as they had never heard of anything like this happening. It needed to be towed to the nearest dealer, of course 80 miles away. I watched as they loaded it onto the trailer leaving a black trail of my new tires across the tarmac and onto the trailer bed. It has had minor electrical glitches over the course of three years intermittent and temporary of course so they have never been able to identify a problem.
It is going on three days and the best they have been able to do is get it into neutral but the wheels are still locked up and the beast will not make a sound. Of course VW will likely say this is out of warranty and I will be screwed. Anyone know of a cliff in North Dakota?
