WE PAID OVER $70K FOR THE CAR AND PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. BOTH VW CORPORATE AND THE INDEPENDENT EXTENDED WARRANTY CORPORATION SAY THE PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED AND NEEDS TO BE PAID FOR BY THE OWNER. TO HAVE A PROBLEM REQUIRING DRIVE TRAIN REMOVAL AND REPLACING THAT IS NOR COVERED IS AN EXCESSIVE EXPENSE FOR THE OWNER. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE DRIVE TRAIN HAD TO BE PULLED, MAYBE FOR A RELATED PROBLEM. THIS FOLLOWS THE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED SINCE OWNERSHIP AND THE EXTRAORDINARY EFFORT REQUIRED BY THE OWNER TO SEEK REMEDIES. ONE PROBLEM HAS BEEN WITH THE AUTOMOBILE SINCE THE DAY OF PURCHASE AND HAS NEVER BEEN FIXED. I REALIZE MONEY DRIVES ALL DECISIONS IN CORPORATE AMERICA, WELL IT WILL CERTAINLY DRIVE MY DECISION TO NEVER PURCHASE A MAINTENANCE NIGHTMARE VW AGAIN.
