I owned this vehicle for five years. I loved this car but when the extended warranty ran out I had to get rid of it. This is a list of problems that I had to deal with. 1. Timing chain tensioner sticking. Had to pull the entire engine to repair 2. Drive selector skirt ripped 3. Both Catalytic Convertors had to be replaced 4. All the Tire Air pressure sensors bad 5. Tires wore premature. Had to replace all four. My cost 6. Brakes Screeching. Had to replace. My cost/ 7. Catalytic Convertors (AGAIN) 8. Timing Chain (AGAIN) 9. Headlight alignment 10. Spark Plug broke off inside cylinder. Destroyed Piston, Wall sleeve and valves 11. Tire pressure sensors (AGAIN) 12. Some sort of injector inside to engine was bent? Had to pull motor to replace. 13. Transmission fluid line broke puked fliud all over the road. Had the Fire Dept clean up the mess. 14. Headlight alignment (AGAIN) 15. Rear Seat belt jammed could not return the back seat to the upright position. 16. Dash Trim Cracked
I'm sure I missed a few things. I finally gave up on it when it had to be towed because it would not stay running. Like I said this could be a very nice vehicle if VW can work out the gamut of problems. I paid $35,000 I also bought a secondary warranty insurance that covered bumper to bumper when I bought the car. They paid $25,000 in repair costs. VW paid NOTHING.
