Bought my 2022 VW Tiguan at the end of Jan 2024, from Sutliff VW in Harrisburg. PA. They kept it for 10 days, the day I bought it. They never put on the new inspection sticker, then proceeded to tell me that it needed work to pass. They were "waiting for parts". It took almost a week to get parts, they said "Blame it on VW, they are slow to ship". When I picked it up, they said they also cleaned the cylinder heads and rings, from carbon deposits. Said it was due to "bad gas". Told me to make sure I was getting my gas at pumps labeled "clean gas". (what a buncha crap).

About 2 months ago, I notice that it's starting to use oil, more than I think it should. Called Sutliff, they said that's normal for European cars. (really, I had Porsches, they didn't do this). They said to just keep adding oil, no more than a half a quart at a time. That it's common to use 1qt every 1000 miles.

It's now September, and it has started to blow blue smoke, every other time when I start it. Took it to Faulkner VW, they are preforming the Oil Consumption Test. They changed the oil and new filter, no charge. Said it was covered under the warranty. (oil change? covered under warranty? something sounds fishy here).

I will update this in 1000 miles. I believe that Audi has recalls on their vehicles for the same thing. Apparently, if you pay more for the vehicle, you get 1st fixes. (Audi Q5, is that same vehicle as the Tiguan).

Tiguan SE 2.0L Turbo

  • Automatic transmission

We are having excessive oil consumption being 1 quart every 2 thousand miles and the warranty just says that it's normal. They performed a test that was totally inaccurate, after the test again we had to add another quart and it just kept going. They just say that consuming a quart every 1200 miles can be normal. So I have to keep a big oil bottle in the trunk as part of this normal thing. It's shameful that after going many times to the dealer and having the extended warranty, the issue is considered just "normal" and we should be okay with it. Buying a brand new car, and every possible warranty to end up with an oil bottle in the trunk as if I bought a car from 1980. Thanks VW for such a good quality product!!!!
