Since purchase my ’19 Tiguan SEL Premium R-Line 4MOTION SUV has hesitated erratically and unpredictably when accelerating. It's most noticeable from a dead stop, but also at speed as well. Sometimes the car accelerates fine, but other times, when attempting to accelerate from a stop to cross a street in busy traffic, the car will just sit unresponsive for seconds and barely accelerate. The unpredictableness of the acceleration behavior is extremely dangerous and an accident waiting to happen!
Case in point, yesterday I was on a busy street in Palmdale, CA attempting to make a left-hand turn into a shopping center parking lot and as I entered the intersection and applied the accelerator the vehicle failed to accelerate. My 20-year old daughter was in the passenger seat and yelled “Dad†as a vehicle was fast approaching toward us. I kept my foot planted on the accelerator and thankfully the vehicle finally did accelerate after the scary delay. Had we been hit by the oncoming vehicle my daughter would have taken the brunt of the impact.
Suffice to say, this near catastrophe scared me so much that I am seriously contemplating selling this vehicle. My next step is to complain to VW, but it seems that based on the numerous complaints from other owners for the same issue, VW is not taking action to fix this extremely dangerous issue. I had a ’14 Lexus RX 350 F-Sport prior to this VW and never experienced this this issue!
