You think VW are Reliable and fair to maintain I got news for you, a defective thermostat On my 2018 Tiguan with 104000 km Diag and replacement 2,500.00 dollars , just before that I had random misfires they replaced all 4 coils It cost me over 1,000.00 It seems as soon as the car was no longer under warranty the engine light started to light up. Did you know that the ECM is riveted in a steel box making it impossible for your local mechanic to work on it. They want you to bring it in to the dealership and rip you off. I replaced 4 coils that came def all a the same time??? We all know that VW was caught cheating with its software in the TDI emissions scandal are they back to there old habits where the ecm is sending you back to the dealer ?? They sure need extra revenue to keep up the high cost of their show rooms.
