I've owned the (2018) Tiguan since the end of August 2017 and it was the 20,883th car off the assembly line per my VIN number. Almost immediately I've had issues with this vehicle for a variety of reasons, it has been in the VW shop more than 7 times. This complaint started out super annoying but now has turned into a safety concern! While driving there is a rattling/clicking noise coming from the left side of the car close to the drivers headrest.
At first, I thought it was the seatbelt adjustor and tried adjusting it but that didn't make a difference. The noise is intermittent and can occur traveling 35mph or 70mph. Once it starts it doesn't stop until I turn the car off and let it sit. I'm now fed up the car and started doing some homework online about some of the issues I've been having. As a result, I've discovered that the noise may possibly be coming from the B Pillar and is a result of insufficient welding points on the frame.
An additional complaint with this car is the driver side door moves while the vehicle is in motion. So, the question is am I driving a structurally unsafe 2018 Tiguan? I do have a file open with VW customer care, I've had the VW technician drive with me in the vehicle but unfortunately, the noise did not occur during the test drive. Of course, it occurred while I drove home from the dealer:(
VW customer care stated that they will NOT conduct any repair work or go looking into the problem until a VW representative has experienced it first hand. That's policy stinks because the noise is intermittent, I'm dropping my car off for an extended period of time so the technician can use on a daily basis to try and hear the noise.
