2-3 months ago, my steering wheel radio controls & touchscreen started randomly malfunctioning. 3 months later, I was turning my steering wheel when I heard a cracking sound and the airbag light came on. My car died completely the next day, unsure if it's related. When taken to a VW service station, they told me it was a clock spring failure, the part needed was backordered at least 9 months, and it wasn't under warranty.

Brought the car in on 2/15 after receiving an airbag error message. Dealership said it was the clockspring, and that it was covered under warranty. Currently nothing on the steering wheel works (airbag, horn, electrical controls). I have been waiting 10 weeks for the part, with no updates, and no word on when it will be in. Requested a loaner for the dealer, since I'm currently driving an unsafe car, but the dealer won't provide one.

There was a clockspring failure, with no horn, and the steering wheel controls airbags. Scary to know that VW is still using subpar parts in systems related to safety systems like this.
