The airbag clock spring on my daughter's 2015 Tiguan broke in June. The car has a warranty extension for this failure, but no parts are in stock. It has now been 2 months and neither Hendrick VW in Frisco, TX nor VW Customer "Care" can help. There is not even a date for the replacement part available. I don't want my daughter driving a car without horn / airbag. Worse, the registration has now expired, as the car can't pass the State Safety inspection required to renew the sticker. Car is now just parked until further notice.

Air bag light is on and I have lost the use of my horn and steering wheel buttons. Clock spring... When the clock spring goes, it severs communication between the steering wheel and the computer, and as well, it affects the airbags, potentially causing an airbag to go off.

The clock spring is supposed to last the life of the vehicle. VW included the 1st generation of Tiguan in the recall of the clock spring... let's hope they see this problem and recall the 2015, as well.

Update from Mar 1, 2022: I have taken this 2015 Tiguan to the Volkswagen dealership to have this problem diagnosed because the VIN is not enough to order the part, the vehicle needs a service appointment to get the part number. It is the clock spring and they extracted the part number. The clock spring is on back order and has been for months... there is currently no fix for this issue.
