I received a letter from Volkswagen stating if a light comes on, bring the car in. I called 12/22-23-2018 the service dept told me to bring car in on the 3rd of Jan. I drove my car there without a problem. Then I called the service dept and he told me I a needed a new motor and timing change which will be $12000 to fix. He said because of an oil filter. I have an extended warranty on the car for 60000 miles. I am covered also with power train but Fidelis warranty denied to fix.
I called Volkswagen and spoke to many people but they want copies of my oil changes which I don't have. I went to the service station to get copies and he told me all his paper work was gone due to computer crash, so now I can only get a notarized paper from the service station. I don't know if that is ok.
I have 4 months left on this lease and 2000 miles before my extended warranty runs out. Now the mechanic is telling me that I shouldn't be going after Volkswagen, I should be going after the service station because he said that they won't go out of their way to put Volkswagen oil filter. He also said now my car doesn't start. Amazing, I drove it in their business with no problem.
I believe Volkswagen is doing the wrong thing. I pay for all this coverage and now they want $12000 to fix the car. They also said they did an oil change on my car in 2016. I checked with Carfax and there isn't any oil change on their papers. My oil changes were done but not at a Volkswagen service center. I never knew that I had to go to Volkswagen for oil changes. I am allowed to use places I know which I did. My last oil change was in Aug 2018. I even have the sticker on my windshield with my mileage, so I have no idea why they are doing this.
People should never buy a Volkswagen or get extended warranty. This is my second Volkswagen and believe me my last. Their company does not care about consumers.
