In an effort to repair my check engine light, we replace the intake manifold, and nixed sludge from cylinders. Once that was done, we turned the car on to find that there were NEW (not so exciting) codes popping up, including the idle malfunction, which turned on my EPC light. Now my engine revs itself up to 3,000 rpms while in neutral - and, as I have a manual transmission, I can see and hear this happening every few seconds. I’ve already spent $2500 trying to get this car to pass smog, and now, two months later, I’m actually further away from this goal. And, my mechanic just told me that there is already a great deal more sludge built up in my engine, after 6-8 weeks of Light driving. Fuuuuuuuhhhh.....
