Dealer said he has never seen this before. Agreed that this would be considered as a 'faulty' part and order new hood from VW.
However, VW Canada will only pay $260 to have it repaired.
Why is their faulty workmanship my fault ? - Because my wife talked me into buying a Tiguan.
Over-rated, over priced and comes with no warranty. Tried phoning customer service and was assured someone would be in touch with me in 5 to 10 business days. Originally reported problem September 15th. It is now October 20th.
Update from Jan 16, 2016: After contacting VW. Canada and having local dealer inspect, VW paid for replacement hood. They wanted to use uncertified shop to do repairs and painting, but managed to arrange for work to be done a mutually acceptable repair shop. VW is very stingy, but kept pushing and finally got full repair completed at no cost to us - but took over 2.5 months.
