CarComplaints.com Notes: VW gave the Tiguan a facelift with new headlights, a fancier grille, and improved performance. Unfortunately they didn't address what gave most 2010 owners headaches --- engine problems.

We were not told at the time we bought this car that it uses a significant amount of oil. It calls for synthetic oil witch is costly. We were told after we had the timing chain tensioner replaced that VW says that this car will use 1 to1 1/2 qtrs. every 1200 miles. that that is acceptable. This is from the time it comes out of the factory.. VW is not forth coming with this info and the dealerships do their best to hide it and after you buy it say it is your problem. Good buy VW.
