CarComplaints.com Notes: VW gave the Tiguan a facelift with new headlights, a fancier grille, and improved performance. Unfortunately they didn't address what gave most 2010 owners headaches --- engine problems.
The vehicle was on the freeway doing 70mph and the engine suddenly began knocking and could not sustain highway speeds. Had to stop by the side and then slowly take the next exit. On taking it to the dealer, they mentioned the IGN coils % spark plugs were faulty and I had to pay to have them replaced with a new part number!. Vehicle had only 55K miles on it and had routine maintenance performed on it.
After having car towed to dealer for fuel pump replacement and fuel injector, they tell me car is serviced and repaired. I leave the dealer and notice car drives like a damn truck. I don't even get 100 feet and it starts lurching. Engine light flashes and car again won't go over 30 mph. Here I am again in traffic during rush hour. Get it back to dealer and leave it as service techs are gone. This time it was a coil which they replaced for $25 and didn't charge me labor. I'm now worried when this will happen again. I'm seriously considering trading this in.
