CarComplaints.com Notes: VW gave the Tiguan a facelift with new headlights, a fancier grille, and improved performance. Unfortunately they didn't address what gave most 2010 owners headaches --- engine problems.

See the attached NBC report for information on this VW 2008-2014 timing chain issue. This is a known issue that VW failed to issue a recall for, that has now generated multiple class action lawsuits.
VW, once a reputable, above board company that cared about quality issues, has become this defensive, litigious organization that would rather fight lawsuits than proactively admit quality issues and support it's customers with recalls for $4000 plus repairs
I have contacted VW America Customer Care and am waiting to hear if they will cover the total cost of this repair based on the overwhelming evidence that it is a known issue they are fighting in court. If they agree to pay for all repairs I will post this as an example of their intention to make good on quality concerns as a customer value statement.
If they do not agree to pay for all repairs, I will post the contact information for the attorneys involved in the New jersey class action lawsuit on this matter, for other VW owners who suffer from this ame issue
