CarComplaints.com Notes: VW gave the Tiguan a facelift with new headlights, a fancier grille, and improved performance. Unfortunately they didn't address what gave most 2010 owners headaches --- engine problems.

Traffic in Johannesburg has been fairy heavy due to rain and this has resulted in long waits in heavy traffic (not strange for this time of year and not something that has been a problem with my VW Polo. However, this morning my brand new Tiguan's clutch was heating up, without any warning lights indicating a problem, but with a smell that almost required an escape mask. I contacted the VW alert line and they towed the vehicle to the dealer. After inspecting the vehicle the technician said it was due to the extended time in traffic ( surely this brilliantly designed vehicle can handle a bit of traffic?!?!?!). Needless to say, I am not happy with the explanation and I need a better explanation. They are reluctant to send a full report with preventative and corrective actions on to the vw head office. The technician also acts as if it is my fault (seriously, now you want to take advantage of an woman!!!!!).
Has anyone had a similar experience,
With the clutch?
