CarComplaints.com Notes: VW gave the Tiguan a facelift with new headlights, a fancier grille, and improved performance. Unfortunately they didn't address what gave most 2010 owners headaches --- engine problems.

As I was driving, I noticed a burning smell. Five minutes later, I noticed the passenger seat burning with flames coming out of the seat. I pulled over turned the car off and threw water on it. The heated seat burned thru the leather and caused the seat to burn. I notified VW of America and they at first did not want to repair the costs. With the help of my lawyer calling them, they agreed to repair it. They did not issue a recall on this although I was not the first person with this issue.
