Engine light was on. Was hoping it was an easy fix, as the vehicle was under warranty in 2013. when I took it to see what was wrong with the engine light they would not find any problems with my car. Also the Turbo has problems and lack of oil ... There were no symptoms as far as driving the car was concerned, only the check engine light. Cost of repair by dealer $2,782.40 I need help with this.

Engine light was on, was hoping it was an easy fix, as the vehicle warranty and also the extended warranty were up. No such luck. Turbo was blown. There were no symptoms as far as driving the car was concerned, only the check engine light. Cost of repair by dealer $2282.40. Seems ridiculous this would happen with a vehicle with only 44000 miles on it.

Update from Nov 7, 2015: Ok so now it is November 7, 2015 and the check engine light is on again. The repair was done on September 15th by the dealer. This better not be a new problem and better be covered by the dealer's 12 mo warranty on repair. I swear I will never buy a volkswagen again.

Update from Jun 30, 2016: Needed new intake manifold which the dealer paid for in full.

On this particular day, I had just gotten out of work and I was on my way to drop off the rent check. I make it there okay. I get back in my car, start it and the engine starts revving on its own. The RPM needle is going up and down continuously and the car starts to shake. Flashing CEL light. I'm afraid to drive it because the whole time I've had this car, I've been Googling too much and am paranoid that I might mess up my catalytic converter.

I call a friend, we drive the car really fast to see if the symptoms go away or get worse. We pop the hood and the engine looks like it is working really hard. Took it to one mechanic who tried to tell me it was the O2 sensor. Wasn't convinced.

Took it to the dealership as a last desperate attempt. Turns out it was the intake manifold. Luckily it was covered under an extended warranty (emissions? not sure) but I only paid $200. At the time they also cleaned out the carbon buildup which is what the cylinder misfires were attributed to. They also replaced some sort of fuse covering that had been in a recall. Overall, okay experience (money wise) even though it was horrible in the moment. After that the car was perfect. Until today. I had to get it towed to the dealership so lets see what is going on now. It all started with rough idling whenever I start the car in the morning time. When the MIL (engine light) appeared on the panel, I took to the local VW dealer in Sudbury. They fixed the Air Intake Valve as per their diagnosis. I took it out of the dealer shop and later on the same day, the engine light is on again. I took it back to the same dealer, and this time, they said it is the fuel injection system. After fixing it, I drove it home and a day later, the engine light is on again. I have reported it to the same dealer, but I have no clue as to whether this problem can be fixed. I took it to the attention of VW Canada but they are also clueless as to what a poor VW Owner like me can do!
