I don't understand why a 2010 car that I have been taking care of just stops working. I also don't understand why Volkswagen is not taking responsibility as this is an issue that is prevalent with this model. I now have a car that is way too expensive to fix and I am still paying on it. Definitely, will not be going with VW again.
2010 VW Tiguan purchased new. All prescribed maintenance, recalls, and oil services performed within manufacture's prescribed limits (documented). Without any warning, engine ran wild and unevenly when started. Paid to have vehicle towed 30+ miles to local dealer. Service Department reported NO oil on dipstick! Also broken timing chain and Metallic Shavings in oil pan! MINIMUM repair= $3000+ for timing chain replacement BUT recommended NEW ENGINE due to metallic filings= Cost $ 8,506!! (Blue Book value of repaired car = $6,500!). NO OIL WARNING LIGHT EVER ON! NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EVER ON! NO INDICATION OF ANY PROBLEM PRIOR TO CATASTROPHIC FAILURE!! Dealer= "No help", VW Customer Service = 'NO HELP." My strong Advice to others; 1) Don't buy a Tiguan! 2) SELL your Tiquan IMMEDIATELY (While it is still running) and BUY ANYTHING ELSE!!! I have bought my LAST VW!!!!
