On Thursday evening the car started fine, but the radio malfunctioned. It was on, but touch screen didn't work and there was no audio. CDs wouldn't play but I could eject the CDs. Next morning, the same scenario. That evening after being parked all day, the car would not start. When I turned the key, I heard a series of clicks from under the dash. Interior lights, head lights and panel lights were all on at normal intensity. I tried staring several times and no start, but each time heard the series of clicks from under the dash. There were no warning or advisory icons on the instrument panel. A co-worker offed to try a battery jump. The first jump did not work. Tired jumping again and the car started and the radio worked normally.
I called my VW dealer and was told that I could bring it in to run a diagnostic for $125.00, but it was unlikely to show any problems if the car was now running normally. I felt like they didn't want me to bring it in at all. I drove to a car parts store and had the battery and alternator tested and they are within normal limits. I don't want to be stranded. I read about similar problems others have experienced with various VW models, with no good resolution. I like this car very much, but my trust in the reliability is shaken.
