Do not understand why VW will not acknowledge a problem with the headlight wiring. The insulation around the copper wiring that goes to both the low and high beam cracks and exposes the wiring making it vulnerable to shorting out. It also affects other lighting such as floodlights. Have replaced headlight bulbs multiple times. This is a major hazard when driving at night when only one headlight is working. I'm lucky I've not been in any accidents.
This is a constant problem. It occurs every two months almost like clockwork. Always a different bulb. Just so frustrating. There is definitely an electrical issue with this car!
Have you ever replace two headlights within a week of each other before a car had 75000 miles. Not just ordinary lamps, Xenon bi-directional...VW customer care had no response except to say the vehicle was out of warranty. This car has 75000 miles and has had two radiators, one water pump replacement, an accelerator repair, leaking panoramic roof, and an intake manifold replacement. Never one accident, just one multiple hundred dollar repair bill after another.
Rear tail light went out first. For those that haven't experienced it yet, the only way to repair it is to remove the bumper - and one or two other parts - and replace the bulb. Took the dealer almost two hours. Have also replaced multiple headlights (myself - not a big problem despite some of the internet posts to the contrary).
Within a week after the light panel was replaced by dealer, following recall, two headlights have gone out and one brake light. The constant cost to replace headlights is bad enough - having to deal with another tail light is another ridiculous expense. Question: What kind of manufacturer would engineer a car in such a way that a tail light can't be replaced in about 5 minutes (by unscrewing the lens and changing the bulb)? Answer: One that receives kick backs from its dealers for every bulb that needs to be replaced!
