Taos S 1.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,600 miles

*(Mileage corrected from 3,600 on previous complaint to 4,600).

Still squeaking. Seems to do it less in warmer weather, but will still do it. Want out of this car ASAP. Absolutely disgusted and angry. Some said they couldn't hear the squeaking, maybe this is why dealer says they can't, but it is EXTREMELY high pitched! It is an awful awful sound that makes me sick to my stomach! It will drive anyone crazy who is sensitive to high pitched noises and who has sensitive hearing. Unacceptable in a new $27,000 vehicle.

problem #1

Feb 112023

Taos S 1.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,600 miles

Still happening, have made another appointment for later this month (February). Previous Review: TOOK TO DEALER ON JAN/2/23. Claimed they couldn't hear the issue. Previous Review: Awful high pitched squeaking when accelerating! I have the 8 speed auto. (Occurs at city and highway speeds). Seems to happen when gears shift. Lasts about 5 or so seconds. Stops immediately when I let off accelerator. (about 2,000 miles on it). Noticed at 500 miles and did not do it right off of the lot. Worried because I heard the 2019 Jetta has a very similar if not the same transmission that had many internal issues and caused a lawsuit. Extremally sickened and disappointed in this purchase so far.

THIS IS MY FIRST CAR PURCHASE!!! Every time I hear the noise I get sick to my stomach. You cannot hear it with radio on or when A/C is turned up. I want my hand-me-down 2013 Escape back, it had it's issues but always drove quietly!!! I loved the way the Taos drove and the feel of it, but I would have never purchased it if the car I test drove exhibited the same issue. I have included a link to the video of the problem on YouTube. You can hear it at the 0:19 mark, make sure your volume is turned up. Very upset!

Update from Mar 9, 2023: Took to dealer again on 2/24/23 and this time tech rode with me for a 5 min drive. He heard the sound this time. He claimed the sound is coming from a sensor behind the radio. He said to wait for an update in 6 months. I'm not buying this excuse. I heard a customer at the dealer saying they had to fill their coolant 3 times and they only have 20,000 miles! That's a sign of head gasket trouble. Ready to dump this heap ASAP! Even if I have to take a loss.
