While stop at red light on 2 occasions, the car goes into the auto stop start feature. The light turns green and I depress the accelerator to start to drive and nothing happens. I frantically try to determine what's going on my, shifter is in Drive and nothing. I press ignition to start and it states car in drive. Shift car to park and car starts. This all occurred after VW did Campaign #24IR. This is dangerous since if people don't realize your not moving they can rear end you or go backwards on a hill.
My car has lagged two different times and would not accelerate causing me to get off the road and turn the car off. The two occurances were about 6-8 months apart from eachother. The engine recorded multiple misfires and the second time it happened I was able to get a video of it. The dealership said that I ran out of gas the first time, even though I had a quarter of a tank and said that it went into lower power mode. The second time it happened they didn't know what was wrong with it because they couldn't reproduce the problem. I have also had problems with the sudden collision light coming on even though there is nothing in front of me. At times the car breaks on its own if I'm using the cruise control, making sudden stops. I have told the dealership this problem as well, but they didn't know what to do because they couldn't reproduce the problem. The final problem I'm having is with the brakes. My car has about 33, 000 miles on it and I had it in for service early February for an oil change. When it was in they said I needed new tires, but said nothing about my rear brakes needing to be changed. I then took my car in to get new tires about a month later and the company said that my rear brakes were going to need to be replaced soon. After traveling just under 800 miles, my brakes started to grind and were showing that they needed to immediately be changed. My front brakes are like brand new brakes. Multiple mechanics have expressed that my brakes shouldn't have worn so quickly and that if anything it should be the front brakes, not the back. I recently called VW to ask if there was a problem with the brakes and they said no. However, after investigating more online, I found that it is a problem in other Taos vehicles.
The vehicle suddenly loses power without warning/notice for a few seconds when attempting to accelerate from a stop; the car will move at speeds between 1-3 mph. The condition occurs multiple times during a drive cycle, especially when cold but also when at operating temperature, and has happened in wet and dry conditions causing numerous near-miss accidents due to the lack of poor response. This is a rental vehicle from National.
When coming to a stop the car stalled, max rpm 3000 warning fired with check engine light. Once restarted it bucked as if it was not getting fuel then stalled again. Dealer had just installed update 48 hours prior to this happening
I have taken my Taos in for 1 year / work 10,000 mile inspection. I was told my breaks are worn and I should monitor them. This should not be happening when the car is one year old with less than 10,000 miles. I believe inferior brakes were designed for the car. This seems to be major complaint for many of us who purchased the car in the first year. The ECU light that has come on 3 times over the year is a problem. No known diagnosis for the problem.

I purchased my VW TAOS on Nov 26, 2021, and since then I have experienced faulty issues 4 times. 2022 Jul twice, Sep once, and Nov once. When merged to the main road the car refuses to accelerate and gives strange sounds in transmission/engine area. The first 2 times I had the issue with loss of power and significant lag in acceleration I could see the "start/stop error" message in the dashboard, and I had to pull over to the side of the road. I drove in the parking lot nearby for few minutes and continued driving when the engine seemed OK, but the automatic engine start/stop system failed to work on traffic lights when car fully stopped. I notified my local dealership about this issue and got an appointment for inspection in August. When examined they recommended changing my fuel to premium and explained that the fault was caused by the quality of gas I put. I followed their instruction and only been pumping Unleaded-91 Premium grade fuel for the last 2 months, but I had a more serious issue in mid-September. In the middle of traffic at 40mph speed a sudden loss of power occurred followed by a check engine light flashing. Again, I had to make an emergency stop from the second lane to pull over into the shoulder. When I notified this to my dealership, they recommended to get the car checked during my first oil change that was supposed to happen a month later because when I consulted with the operator, they said I should observe if the problem is going to reoccur. On 7th of Nov 2022, I got my oil changed for the first time at the dealership and drove my car for a while and it seemed fine. However, by the evening when I tried to drive it back home the same issue with worse noise in the engine area took place and car failed to accelerate in the middle of the traffic where I had to act quickly to pull over to the side of the road causing risky situation to other drivers on the road and myself. I am now convinced that this issue is never going to be fixed.
Vehicle has gone limp, almost like a stall, no matter how much the gas pedal is pressed. It happens for a few seconds and then it picks back up like normal. Check engine light and EPC light come on. Has happened pulling out of parking spot, at a traffic light, and in traffic. The first time it happened I took it to the local VW dealership where they told me I had water in my gas. Hard to believe as I go to a well known gas station and my other car gets the same gas and has never had this issue. I paid to get the car back, and drove it until the tank was empty. I've been adding higher octane gas like they recommended and it just happened again recently.
Vehicle was involved in a front end collision with left front impact. Damage spread across front of vehicle. Air bags did not deploy. Vehicle has been having electrical issues recently. Head unit will do -??hard reset-?? while driving disabling all safety features. Car also will alert fob not present after vehicle has been started and is in motion. Other times fob will unlock doors but will get alert message that fob is not found in vehicle. Alerted dealership and manufacture but never received a response other than the dealership saying -??no codes have been stored-?? and that they were unable to help me from there.
I bought the car new on May 31, 2022. It had 266 miles on the odometer. With approx 200 miles driven it shut down while driving at 35 MPH. The dealer, East Coast VW, had it towed. After 10 days they said it was a faulty fuel sending unit and I was out of fuel, even though the fuel gauge read 3/8 of a tank. So again it happened. Saturday 8-27-2022. With 450 miles I've driven. Fuel gauge read 5/8 of a tank. This time it happened at 60 MPH in traffic.
I had a check engine light, epc warning, lane assist deactivated and stop start disabled all at once while on a drive in a remote area without cell service. The car had a dangerous loss of power. I brought it to the dealer and they told me there is no fix as its a common software issue that apparently faulty detects bad gas. All they could do was reset the code and say it may happen again, and recommend higher octane fuel. VW corporate was no help & I opened a buyback case. I don-??t trust this car and dont think its safe to drive. This is the second time brought in for a stop start stall issue. Under 4k miles.
I was driving on the highway traveling approximately 65- 70 miles an hour when my TAOS began losing speed. I attempted to accelerate when I realized my speed had dropped to 56mph. I was unable to accelerate and a message popped on my dashboard showing about maximum RPM cannot exceed 4000. My engine shut off and moments later before the check engine light, hazard signal, and EPC lights flashed and turned on. I was forced to pull over off to the left shoulder. I was not able to restart my vehicle. Each time I tried it would power on, attempt to ignite and die down back to assessors mode with the engine, hazard, and EPc lights remaining on. Had my vehicle towed to VW dealership and am awaiting diagnostic and repair. Truly scary experience when my vehicle shut off on a highway with speed limits at 70mph!
I have a 2022 SEL 4motion. I purchased it in December. 7 months later I-??m having issues with it. The extreme lag to this car is so unsafe. This is my 5th VW, and I-??ve never had issues like this before. I can-??t stress how many times I pray I don-??t get hit when trying to accelerate the car. It-??s mind blowing how slow the pickup is and super unsafe. I-??ve had the EPC Light come on 3 weeks ago and now today I-??ve had the check engine light on. The infotainment system is so unreliable. Sometimes the screen blacks out completely. The charging area becomes so hot that I have to take my phone off of it and put it elsewhere. When the EPC light came on I was driving on the highway and freaked out when the light came on and the vehicle started slowing down and wouldn-??t accelerate as I kept trying to hit the gas pedal. Luckily my son wasn-??t in the car. Volkswagen needs to straighten these serious issues out immediately. I will be on the hunt for another car. I don-??t feel safe with this vehicle.
Engine electrical issue with knock sensor, dealer replaced only to find out they now need to install an engine electrical harness complete. Engine warning light comes on and states max engine rpm's limited to 4000, while doing so engine power is cut resulting in major loss of acceleration, while engine light is on safety system does not work. Infotainment system sometimes does not load for several minuets as well as the rear view camera not functioning while loading.
I have had start/stop error a few times but the other day I turned my car on and it said car on and chimed that a door was open even tho no light was on indicating which door. So I got out and re closed all of them. I get back in my parking brake is on now and won-??t come off. So I shut the car off give it a few minutes and turn it back on. I was able to get the parking brake off to back out of my parking spot as I-??m pulling out of the parking lot I was in my parking brake comes on in the middle of the intersection. I had to turn my car off to get the parking brake to go off.
The rearview camera on our new Volkswagon TAOS does not work. We leased the TAOS on 12/27/21 and the rearview camera malfunctioned for a short time and then completely stopped working soon after. We took it to dealership twice and called Volkswagon several times but were told they do not have the part to fix it. We have two toddlers at home and neighbor children regularly play at our home. We are very concerned about safety of the vehicle, but it is our only vehicle. We are aware of Part 573 Safety Recall Report 20V-716 concerning a similar defect being non-compliant with FMVSS 111 on -??Rear Visibility.-?? We emphasize that the rearview camera on our new vehicle does not work at all, despite FMVSS 111.
The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen Taos. The contact stated when she exited the highway at approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle completely stalled in the middle of the road. There were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact repeatedly pressed the Auto START/STOP button; however, the vehicle failed to start. The contact then used her keys to manually start the vehicle and drove safely home. The vehicle was taken the dealer however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 11,000.
MIB infotainment system blanks out, simultaneously sending error code to driver center console rendering it useless. Key functions are therefore inoperable or inaccessible, including (but not limited to) TPMS monitoring / alert warning, rear view camera display, and potentially a host of other safety and advanced driver assist functions.
Periodically the MIB infotainment screen blacks out; this in turn places a warning error in the driver center console screen. While this occurs, nothing else can be accessed or displayed in the center console screen. This creates a potentially dangerous situation as it can lead to confusion on a variety of things (example: Is cruise control still engaged?). It can also deprive the driver of key safety information (example: If one or more tires experiences a loss of pressure, the driver will not be warned). Furthermore, if the driver is reliant on Navigation and is driving under stressful and adverse weather conditions, this could create panic and result in a collision. VW has no fix for the issue currently and is releasing the vehicle back to me, even though I have stated my safety concerns.
Modular Infotainment Platform (Radio, Navigation, etc.) called MIB goes blank when driving sometimes. This can be dangerous if it occurs when traffic is heavy and driver is dependent on the navigation system. Also simultaneously the driver center console display only shows the following error message: -??Error Dynamic Road Sign Display-??.
The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen Taos. The contact stated that shortly after accelerating from a stop light, the vehicle suddenly stalled and the lane assist disabled, tire pressure sensor warning light, and the brake warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to coast into a nearby gas station where she turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle regained proper function. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The approximate failure mileage was 50 miles.
