We had extended warranty with AUL and they are denying the claim due to a clause which states "overheating, regardless of the cause of the overheating or resulting from contamination or inadequate amounts of coolants, lubrication or fluids is not covered." The cause, as per the Dealer, was a dropped valve seat in cylinder #4 on the left cylinder head which allowed coolant into the cylinder causing the overheat. This is a known problem with Pentastar V6 engines. Chrysler extended the warranty on many of these engines out to 150,000 miles but I can't find if VW did the same for they used the same Pentastar V6 in this vehicle. I also can't find anything from VW on any TSB's but am working with a local VW dealer looking for some info. The vehicle is at a Chrysler dealer where they have in stock these cylinder heads due to having so many failures of dropped valve seats on their vehicles. Currently the warranty co. wants me to contact VW to see if they extended their warranty for this problem like Chrysler did. So that tells me that they are scapegoating and hoping VW will pick up the bill.
