problem #2

Routan SEL 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

I bought this car in July 2016. The car had about 64000 miles. The first day I drove the car the light for the brake went on. I drove it back to the dealer and they fixed it. A month later I wanted to brake and my pedal went to the floor but I couldn't brake. Thankfully I was able to stop the car on the grass.

Today is February 8 2017 it's been days that my car is at the dealer because the problem happened again on Feb. 5. This issue happened 3 times in 6 months!! After the second time they told me they couldn't fix it and I prayed it would never happened anymore. The dealer says "they can't fix the problem because they can't duplicate it while they drive the car". I told him this car is a danger and I will kill myself or someone else if they don't fix it. I was lucky that previously I was driving only at 30mph and was able to stop on the grass. I can't imagine the same problem on a highway or on a rush hour! I think this problem is real serious and put lives in danger. The dealer still says they can't find the issue.

Routan 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 64,190 miles

Almost all vehicle has an issue which they become well known for as a regular ongoing situation. In my case never had this problem on any of my other vehicles I have owned. I had replaced the brake pads and rotor a year and something ago, no problems. Everything working great until unexpectedly the vehicle every so often did not brake. It was an issue where you would be driving, the car would brake fine but every so often unexpectedly, it would not stop/brake. My VW has only 64190 mileages.

During these scary moments my intensions were not to let go and reach down for the emergency brakes but to keep my eyes on how close I was getting to the vehicle and constantly press and release the brakes rapidly until the vehicle come to a complete stop. Many times I had to pull to the side to avoid hitting the car on front of me.

Per my experience on such incident and vehicle, having the emergency brakes at foot level, close to the regular brakes makes them useless to have.

Searched for recalls and was amazed of how many drivers of VW Routon had the same issue. To my believes this should be considered a manufacture defect. Thanks for reading!
