As I was driving home on the expressway, the car started revving between 5-6rpms. It started to smoke. I pulled off of the expressway and the engine was smoking and something was leaking. I was told by a passerby to get out of the car for safety. After the fire department came to clear the car for towing, it was brought to the dealership. They determined that it was coolant leaking from heater hoses and replaced the hoses and water pipe. This problem came on suddenly and could have caused a crash. My friend has the same car, only 2 months older, and this happened to her in December. I was told that this is fairly common with Routans. I think that if this is the case, there needs to be a recall done before someone does lose control of their car and crash. The suddenness of this incident was so scary. I am really glad that I was in the right lane of the expressway and not in the fast lane or middle lane. If I were, there would have been worse consequences.
