Have had the car since new. Driven by myself and my wife. It has been looked after and had an 'easy' life. Always serviced as scheduled by VW. No previous issues. Battery replaced once.
I picked the car up after service on 21/2/22 and was told that the mechanic had seen leaked coolant and that it is the water pump leaking, and it needs to be replaced to fix it. Cost around US$1040. I suggested that it should not happen to a car with only 76,000km on it but got nowhere with that. The guy at the counter referred back to that they have professional mechanics and he trusted his judgement.
I have been searching the Web to see if it is a common issue but haven't found anything for the Polo. I look up the cost for a water pump to suit and I can buy it for 1/8 of what VW will charge for theirs.
I'm not impressed with the lack of quality on this part, and the lack of interest to try to come up with a cheaper outcome. Really puts me off buying another VW.
