I purchased this vehicle thinking that it was reliable.
I towed it into a certified VW dealership/repair center for a rough idle, and after the car shut down on me on an expressway.
They told me that it was a timing chain issue, at under 75K miles.
I have a lifetime warranty for the engine, but the $3K claim for the timing chain is denied because they wanted oil changes every 6k miles. When I was sold the car, I was told to get an oil change every 10K miles for this vehicle. I also checked VWs recommendation, and they recommend an oil change every 10K miles.
This is absolutely ridiculous that I’m having a timing chain issue with this car. I’m aware of class action lawsuits in effect for other VW models for timing chains. I think the 2014 Passat Wolfsburg model also has defective timing chain issues and should be included in a lawsuit.
Please help in any way. I can’t afford to replace this timing chain, and I’m getting screwed over by this warranty company.
