Walmart Auto Care Center on Rinconada in Las Cruces, NM told me 5W-30 was the correct oil for my car, sold that to me and installed it in my car toward the beginning of a road trip east.
3 weeks later, a Walmart ACC in West Mifflin, PA attempted to sell me the same oil before I stopped them, purchased the oil recommended by VW and had them install that instead. They also double-charged me for the oil filter, decided to take some petty revenge on me taking time to get the right oil installed and skipped me for over an hour when I was the first in line, did not offer the rest of the oil left that I had purchased (7qt when only 6.3qt are needed in the vehicle) nor the packaging and I was also hit in the parking lot upon leaving the Auto Care Center because no security is enforcing traffic laws in their parking lots.
It seems this is a problem in their systems across the nation and maybe beyond. I would guess several thousand if not maybe a million or more drivers of European makes may have had similar problems with WalMart Auto Care Centers without ever knowing, many later wondering why their cars aren't running well and many why their cars never again run as well due to engine damage.
