It's not a serious issue, most times. You pay for extras like a trunk deck that opens when you hit the key fob because you're walking towards the car. You have it all planned... You come out of the Grocery Store one afternoon, bags secure in grip, key fob ready with your thumb on the fob. Start walking faster because the rain is starting to pour marble size rain, Push the trunk button on the key fob and get this:
What do you do to what you are holding? Service Manager advised to Silicone the seal after he said they cleaned sap off of it, and I ALMOST did. Then they can say I put it on incorrectly? Or used a non-approved Silicone, luckily my can was empty and I thought of the non-compliances afterwards...but am VERY glad for it. How did sap get in my trunk? I didn't see any "clean" spots on the rubber seal, it was kind of dry if you ask me.
This just adds to other issues with the vehicle. Pulled a Carfax copy today, only a portion of my work orders / receipts are even documented. One says "Engine Checked", my receipt shows it was there for excessive air leaks in the front door windows. Check out my videos to see how hard you have to press an issue with Volkswagen. After 2 years of problems, Lemon Law Court Proceedings are scheduled for the end of the month, originally scheduled for 3 months ago. Good stall VW Attorney, more time for more documentation of more problems and Warranty Visits to Dealer Service. One Local Dealer has black-balled the car for 1 issue.
Update from Oct 24, 2017: Here is a video of my "Hands-Free Trunk" after several repair attempts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=av1BM4z7PoY
All they did was unscrew the rubber trunk stops a little. That's why it closes harder than normal.
Going to meet with a VW Rep on November 11, 2017 since VW appealed my Arbitration Settlement over major issues.
