I purchased one of the first released 2012 Passatts after being on a waiting list for nearly 6 weeks. The car currently has almost 50,000 miles and I have noticed very random thumping in the transmission. I use the word thumping because I do not know how else to explain it.
While idling at a red light or stoping the car suddenly, feels as though it was just bumped from behind. This first happened at approximately 25,000 miles and has since increased in frequency. The dealership service writer has said they have not found anything wrong with the car. As I approach the 75,000 mile mark when I no longer have a warranty, I am getting very nervous.
I have checked the internet for similar complaints but have not come across any....yet. I hope those with the same problem do not hesitate to post this issue somewhere so when someone does lose a transmission, he/she can print the similar complaints found and present to their dealer when fighting the repair bill.
