2008 Passat went to Staples. Closed my car. When I came back my key would open the doors but would start the engine and it would stop right away. A message said that the programming does not work any longer. Contact dealer. Was stranded. Had to get car towed to dealer approx $120, Key copy approx $220 and reprogramming two keys $80 ea. total = $500. I told the dealer that this is a faulty product. It does not work normally. He stated I was out of luck because the warranty was out.
