When the temperature was in excess of 80 Degress F, a loud ticking was heard from the Drivers side door post. Initially I thought it was something loose in the airbag or its restraints.
It turns out that darker colored Passats have an issue with a roof rib that is not welded during construction. When it is warm, this roof rib would rattle.
The fix, if you can call it that, was to spray that offending roof rib with an expandable epoxy foam to secure the rib.
