This is my Gripe, Rant and Yell. While driving to work on Hwy 64,June 14th 2006, my car, .a 2004 Passat, slowed down and completely stopped and, would not start. I called Casey's Volkswagen in Newport VA where I purchased the car and was told to have my car towed to their garage. I was given a car to drive on June 15th by Casey's . no amount per day or day limit was given or listed on invoice of rental agreement. I was told to keep their car until my car was repaired.. No checks for dents or scratches were performed. . After 3 days I called Casey's garage and was informed the engine would need to be repaired .First I was told it was a problem with the cam, then 2 days later I was told it was due to a damaged head and head gasket; during receiving this info I was given conflicting dates the engine was checked. I then went to the dealership and checked my car, it was in the salvage yard still untouched ,motor intact, not taken apart. Again Lies by service department, I then contracted a lawyer. I was told the cost would be $5000.00, to repair the engine and that the cost would not be covered under the warranty because sludge was in the engine. The manager claimed that this sludge occurred due to no oil changes . I informed the manager that oil changes had been performed as required and presented invoices of oil changes performed at Goodyear, Merchant's Tire, Sears and Firestone, My son, who worked as a mechanic in Kentucky,' had also changed the oil several times, while performing numerous other checks to ensue my car was properly cared for and ran safely. l had the oil changes performed at other locations due to the expensive price of oil changes at Casey's VW. I was then informed the warranty would not be honored due to the fact the oil changes were not performed at Casey VW. The oil changes were not required to be performed at a VOLKSWAGON dealer ship,, only recommended to be done at a VW dealership., per the owner manual. .The car had 48000 miles and the engine was still under original warranty plus I had the extended warranty. The warranty was still not honored. When I contacted VW's public relations district office, I was informed they had already spoke with Casey's manager and was aware of the problem but could do nothing to help me with the engine repair I then informed Casey's I would not get the engine repaired at Casey's, if VW would not pay for the engine repair. I was then told to come get my car. I hired a wrecker and went to get the car and on arriving I was told that I owed Casey's $1772.98, and could not have my car until this amount was paid. I was told the $1772.98 was for the rental car use, cleaning the car , dents {which did exist} repairs ,storage etc.. Casey's manager stated VW would not cover the rental car if repair was not covered and VW was refusing to cover the engine repair cost. I consulted my lawyer and was told not to pay the $1772.98 while she filed my claim in court; during this waiting period Volkswagen reprocessed my car .even though I had NEVER missed a payment .I did NOT owe VW 1 DIME. The car was repossessed August 28.2006 a payment was even made in Sept. 2006, due to the fact I had not been notified of Volkswagen repossessing my car. I later received a bill from Volkswagen claiming I owed Volkswagen $16,000, the amount VW stated they lost when they resold my car.. I REFUSED TO PAY ANY OF THE $16,000 since Volkswagen STOLE MY CAR. I do not know if engine was rebuilt or replaced since Volkswagen "STOLE "my car. In September 2010 , I received a letter from Volkswagen informing me that they had found faulty engines with the 2004 Passat, they had determined sludge in the engine was a problem.. They instructed me to take my car to a VW dealer if a problem developed with the engine or to send a copy of a bill if I had had repair work or engine replaced in my 2004 Passat. VW stated they would refund my money for cost to repair or replace the engine.. Unfortunately they had already reprocessed my Passat. ,I contacted my lawyer, JENNIFER SHERWOOD, many times and visited her office numerous times to question when my case would be filed in court, last time was 1 month prior to deadline for filing my case. . Sherwood stated we had another year which was a lie. JENNIFER SHRWOOD NEVER DID FILE MY CASE, she called me in Nov. after deadline for filing and stated she wanted to help me get ,the $16,000 off my credit report, I definitely was not interested in her offer. I later discovered she was friends with ART Casey, the dealership owner, and played golf with him. Wonder why my claim wasn't filed?. Sherwood never gave a legitimate reason for not filing my case, best reason she stated for not filing my case was, she was very depressed due to gaining so much weight that her bed fell ,it wasn't a good reason to me. This month I received a debt forgiveness statement from VW which means I will probably have to pay taxes on the $16000. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH VOLKSWAGON .CASEY,S, OR JENNIFER SHERWOOD.. TRUE STORY.
