I have had the leaking valve cover problem from day one. The car was purchased three years ago with a 170,000 miles on it. The vehicle now has 200,000 miles on it but, the vehicle has been very well maintained with no body dents or any interior damage. The engine and tranny ( 5 speed ) has been well serviced throughout the life time of this vehicle. This vehicle is mechanically sound. But however, the vehicle has an engine valve cover leak on the passenger's side. The leak never seems to be corrected after the repairs have been done, and when the repairs are done, it only last for a week or two and then starts all over again on the same side. The engine oil leaks apparently from the passenger side valve cover down onto the manifold causing the oil burning smell and smoke when the vehicle comes to a stop. If anyone has suffered this problem and has a corrective solution please let me know.
P.S.
The valve covers were replaced the first time with Napa parts (did not work), the second time with OEM Volkswagen parts (still not working).
