Get a call at work from the wife saying her car has died in the middle of the road. She said it starting making some funny noises and stalled immediately. Car would not restart. She and my 3 small children had to push it to a parking lot. I called the service manager at the local dealer and she immediately knew what the problem was. I called a wrecker and had the car towed to the dealership. Her diagnosis on the phone was confirmed and the ENTIRE fuel system has to be replaced. She said this an issue with the fuel being sold in southern states and VW is eating the cost indefinitely. VW claims that it's the fuel being produced and it's not their product that is at fault. Ok, I can understand that. But, are other diesel powered vehicles in the south experiencing the same or similar failures. Is it truly an across the board result that there is a problem with fuel quality or is VW trying to avoid liability by shifting the blame but going ahead and replacing the complete fuel system on our car?
