Bought this gem in December 2019, noticed oil level going down within 2500 miles, 3500miles 1/4 qt. down and getting black, got it to the dealer @ 4500 miles and 1/2qt low, promptly told it was not an issue and they would not change until normal 10k interval was met. I really liked this car but this was unacceptable to me, not only is it a possible catastrophic failure waiting to happen but it is environmentally irresponsible to build vehicles that burn oil as a matter of course. Took it down and traded it in on a better bet.

Car still under factory warranty. Oil light came on, car was almost empty & I was 1500 miles away from oil change. I called VW & they said it's normal & that their website states it's normal to have to add a quart every 1200 miles. They refused to do oil consumption test because they said it's in normal range to be empty by the time 10k mile between oil change is needed. By 10k miles I'd have all new oil! It's excessive & not normal & they knew it! They told us to check the oil every time we get gas. The transmission also hesitates & shift hard, but I'll make a new complaint about that. I also had to add coolant twice this past winter. If they told customers you'll have to add oil every 1200 miles, no one would buy! They sure have gone downhill with product & customer service. Please save yourself the headache! It's a shame because they do look good, but it's not worth it!

In September 2020, a message appeared on the dashboard of the car that said "check, your oil is low". I took it to the dealer and they said that it was time to change the oil and my car only had 6000 miles and it still did not meet the required year for the oil change, however they argued that it already had the year by the date that had been built. They did the oil change and today in April 2021 it again presented the same message that the oil is low. I took it to the dealer and they started to tell me that it is normal for the car to consume oil every 600 miles. My car currently has 12,241 miles - it is not time or mileage for an oil change. However, it has never presented a message that says it needs maintenance. This is a factory fault and if we have to join together to file a class action lawsuit, count on me.

My wife and I financed this 2019 Jetta for our son.this car has had multiple issues but the most recent is high oil consumption.We bought the service plan which they change the oil every 10,000 miles.On friday the car would not run the oil light came on so we had it towed in to the dealer. The service advisor looked into it car had no oil on stick.They want to do a consumption check but unfortunately the oil wasn't covered because its only been 3000 miles into the 10,000 service so it cost us $79.00 out of pocket.The service advisor told me that it is common for the engine to use a quart of oil every 1200 miles ,so you do the math the engine will run out of oil between services.My wife and I have bought and leased many new cars since 1986 and to be honest I have never had to check or add oil in any of them between service . I know people that drive Chevy Tahoes with 250,000 miles that do not use this much oil.The car now has to be driven 630 miles for the dealer to determine how much oil is being used.We have had several issues and to be honest they act like you are making the problem up.I would really like to know how many people are having this same problem and would like to get a class action lawsuit or a buy back.

I also brought my concern of unusual oil consumption to the dealer who told me that all Volkswagens have this characteristic. The service advisor told me his wife's Jetta does the same thing and that it's the car using oil, not leaking it. I respectfully explained that I did not sign up for having to refill oil in a new car as well as refueling it. He told me not to worry about it - that regular oil changes were sufficient and that leaving the oil level alone and not topping it off would not hurt the car at all. Having better judgement, I am continuing to monitor and refill my oil case.
