Over the last 12 months oil consumption has been increasing - checked by Mechanics private and VW - no leaks noted and not burning oil. Told by dealer at Kelly VW in Danvers that 1 qt every 1000 mi is considered normal by VW (Unable to find this printed officially anywhere).
Found a Tech Bulletin V171806 by VW - Solution is Oil Consumption test to pinpoint the amount of loss if greater than 0.5 QT per 600 mi - some folks are getting engines replaced if under warranty.
We have an extended warrenty - but I don't think it is covered.
