Possible "Clock Spring" issue causing the problem. It started with my horn going out intermittently, and now it never works. Radio most of the time only plays one speaker, sometimes two, rarely all 4. Dashboard lights light up like Time Square in NYC, with all the 'idiot lights' there are to have....except sometimes only one, or none.

Very strange.

Lately, I'll put the key in the ignition, and I get ZERO power. ANYWHERE. Like the battery is stone dead. Eventually, it'll light right back up, and I can start it again, but the clock resets to 12:00.

I'm betting the Clock Spring as previously indicated here. Anyone have insights to share?

I've called in my trusty VW Mechanic, he has yet to schedule me in.

This is the first of three complaints I will be listing. I came across this site trying to figure out what could possibly be wrong with my car. The first incident was that I went out to drive to work and my car simply won't crank. At first I thought the battery was dead. However, when I turned the lights on they were bright and other clues that made me think perhaps it was something different. I continued trying to crank it. It would crank for like 2 seconds and die again. I borrowed a car and went on to work.

Upon returning home my husband goes out to my car and it cranks right up. There were several lights on the dash....check engine, tire sensor gauge, and epc. Other than the lights the car seemed fine. He drove it to the part store. The computer threw a code saying something about the high pressure sensor gauge( I think I am calling that name wring). The battery was fine, the alternator, and starter were fine. I never had another problem until about a month later.

Again, I go out on my way to work and she will not crank. After several attempts it finally did. I put it in reverse and backed up. When I put it in drive, I could hold the accelerator all the way to the floor and the Rpms did not even move. I called my husband and left the car running until he got here, fifteen minutes later. He got in and it did the same thing. He then turned the car off, cranked it again, it was fine. Had someone bring a computer out to diagnose it, it threw out every code imaginable. Which makes no sense because between these spells the car is absolutely normal. After clearing the codes, the two that came back were Tcm and tire pressure sensor. We drove it to a mechanic to be told he can't find the problem unless it is doing its thing when he gets it. He did say he thought it had a short or something along those lines.

The car ran fine for two days. This morning I go out to go to work and it's the same thing. The only difference is that this afternoon it still won't crank. The mechanic can't figure it out because it's like it corrects itself. we are left just waiting on it to happen again. I bought the car new and have had the routine services done from day one. I have never abused the car in any way and have had absolutely no trouble with it until now.
