Driving 55 mpg on I-95 north, the low preassure sensor came on during normal driving. I pulled over to the right lane to monitor whether the tire was going flat and the tire completely burst. I quickly braked and pulled over the the emergency lane. After jacking up the car I noticed the tire had completely separated at its seams on the interior and exterior of the tire wall. This is a clear sign of a defective Continental tire and could have caused a severe accident and injury as a result.
