CarComplaints.com Notes: Digging through the long list of NHTSA complaints about a sudden loss of engine power and the high pressure fuel pump failing, it's never good to come across the "my car (with a cold engine) set itself on fire in the middle of the night" complaint.

This (June 23, 2015) was the first instance of a MAP sensor malfunction, causing the "engine" trouble light to turn on. My mechanic reported that the computer diagnostic indicated physically impossible levels, and he replaced the sensor. The problem recurred one month (July 22, 2015) and 260 miles later and he replaced the sensor again. It is now happening for a third time (October 2015) after another 1,000 miles, and I have an appointment to have the MAP sensor replaced once more. Dropping my car off so frequently for service, just in case there is a real problem, just to replace faulty sensors is making it very inconvenient to own this VW.
