Problem is completely random....my car just won't start some of the time.....this usually seems to happen if I turn vehicle off and try to restart within an hour or so....the car turns over but won't start. So far, nobody can duplicate the problem so diagnostics doesn't find anything wrong. Car is using a lot of oil but not smoking or leaking..... Anyone have any suggestions....winter in Ohio now with young kids....not a good combo!
The key will not turn, seems to be stuck! I have to wiggle the key 20-30 times sometime to get the key to turn! Same for removing the key! Seems lots of VW owners are having the problem! If anyone knows what the problem is or knows the fix you can email me at wilson3704@msn.com! Have an idea this will not be cheap! May be the first and only VW I ever own!!!!
Having trouble getting my car to start. It happens randomly. I have taken my car in to vw dealer numerous times now. They keep telling me they can't find anything wrong with my car. They have replaced fuel pump, ignition and crank sensor. It's been almost 2 months now and problems still persist. Worst of all, engine has shut off on me twice while driving. Really frustrated. I'm done with this car.
Car would not start when the ambient air temperature was at -2 Celsius. Managed to eventually get the vehicle going by boosting it numerous times for 10 minutes or more. Car has been at the dealers for more than a week now while we wait for parts to repair it.
Update from Apr 5, 2013: 27 days later I received this car back from VW since the part had to be shipped in from Germany (so was the excuse used)! When discussing with VW Canada about driving the car in this condition and it losing power at every intersection and not starting, the customer service rep clearly indicated that this was not there problem and if the car would not start call roadside assistance"That's what its for"!!!
I then drove the car to Honda and traded it in.
Unfortunately I will never own another.
