CarComplaints.com Notes: Digging through the long list of NHTSA complaints about a sudden loss of engine power and the high pressure fuel pump failing, it's never good to come across the "my car (with a cold engine) set itself on fire in the middle of the night" complaint.

Since radio died, replaced battery with OEM spec. If I don't drive car for 4 days, battery is dead and requires jumpstart. There is an issue with the dead radio draining battery or some other issue with the electrical system. This has created hardship for me. I have to be careful where I park so that I can get the car jumped in order to drive it once it has died. Going away means I have to plan extra time on return to get car started and inconvenience someone to help me. I used to love my car but that has changed.
Volkswagen knows of this issue and again, like the radio, nothing is being done!! They are just ignoring thousands of complaints regarding this. What kind of a company does this to their client base??? They've lost my loyalty.
