Door locks stopped working for my VW Jetta S 2.5 L. when I press the car key to lock the door, it gives sound that everything is locked. One day to my horror, I saw someone opening my car at night. I immediately rang alarm, went to my car and checked every door to find that they are not getting locked. No manual locks for this vehicle too. This really questions the safety of the vehicle. I took it to VW service. They told that mechanical part of latch failed. They told that since mechanical and electrical parts come together both were replaced at a cost of 670 bucks. That's too much for a single door.

I am truly not sure. It is going into the shop tomorrow. Although, I just purchased it used, and when I park it on a hill. It makes this odd sound as if the body is going to fall apart? I smell a burning metal smell as well. It was parked on a hill so it was stationary, just not sure what it is. I know it is used but I only had it for 1 month!

The headliner was separating from the inside roof of the car. It was starting to hang down. Also the interior door panel was coming apart and starting to disintegrate. Both had to be replaced. Volkswagon said out of warranty and they can do, nothing despite multiple online complaints of same issue.

Water infiltration: There was a class action suit won against VW for water infiltration for model years through 2009, which filed before this vehicle was manufactured. Mine is a 2010, but manufactured in 2009. I now have the exact same problem, but haven't found any evidence a new class action suit was brought or that the company has voluntarily recalled the vehicles for correction. This problem has resulted in my car taking in enough water to create a 2" deep puddle where the front driver and passenger put their legs. While I thought I had extracted all water and dried out the car, I returned 3 weeks later to find the interior completely covered with mold/mildew, which creates a health hazard for most, and particularly me since I have allergies to some molds. The vehicle is now pretty much a total loss, and is valued at $8000 - which a retiree such as myself cannot afford to lose. My auto insurance does not cover this loss. The court case is: John dewey, jacqueline delguercio, et al V. Volkswagen of America, Inc. Et al. Case nos. 07-cv-2249-fsh-ps and 07-cv-2361-fsh-ps (consolidated)) the final decision was in 2014, john dewey, jacqueline delguercio, et al V. Volkswagen of America, Inc. Et al. Case nos. 07-cv-2249-fsh-ps and 07-cv-2361-fsh-ps (consolidated)).

"takata recall" I was driving on scott street, when another driver ran the red light on the intersection and hit my car on the passenger side towards the back passenger door, and the airbag didn't deploy. I informed VW, they did a diagnostic text on my car and their findings was that the airbag did what it was supposed to do. I didn't take it any further.

Sunroof drains come apart allowing water to enter automobile. Wet interior allows mold to grow inside car causing a possible health hazard. Windows steam up blocking view out of car causing dangerous driving conditions. Water drips onto electrical connectors and moisture present in car causes corroding of electrical connections increasing the possibility of an electrical malfunction and hazardous driving condition.

I am having a similar issue with my vehicle as in NHTSA id numbers 10660948, 10664166, 10662515 and 10633219. All four of my vehicle's door locking mechanisms have failed. As a result, the doors cannot be opened from the outside of the vehicle. This could be a safety issue in the event of an accident or the need to quickly evacuate a passenger from the vehicle.

The Jetta tdi sportswagon 2010's hatchback locking mechanism does not stay locked. After closing the hatch, the latch engages into closed position. But on slight push, the latch disengages into open position. On a road bump, the latch opens, lifting the hatchback in the middle of driving.

We have owned this 2010 Jetta sportwagen tdi since brand new. Today 1/28/14 is the fourth time we have had to replace the lock mechanism on one of the doors. Part numbers 3B4-839-016-ap (left rear), 3B1-837-016-cg (right front) and 3B4-839-015-ap (right rear) have all been replaced at least once. Right rear latch has been replaced twice - only once under warranty. In looking on NHTSA web site there are 8 other reports of problems with latches in the 2010 Jetta. This is a serious safety concern because most of the reports (including mine) were for doors that would not unlock and doors that would not open no matter what the reporting party tried. Can you imagine if these latches failed in an accident and children sitting in the rear seats were trapped?

I tried opening rear door and it would not unlock. Managed to unlock door from inside vehicle. Now the door lock mechanism on rear driver side door does not work at all. Door is forever unlocked. This seems to be a common problem in VW vehicles. Concerned that child may open door even with child safety switch engaged/activated.

The passenger rear door latch stopped locking when the master door lock is pushed or the keyless is pressed. This is very dangerous because my children sit in the back and there is not an accessible manual button to lock the door with. My car is only two years old! when I took it to the dealer they said it was my problem. When they had in the shop they told me that the front passenger door no longer locks either. This is a huge safety problem. The quoted price is $350 per lock. A door that you can't lock is a problem that the dealer should resolve.
