This was another problem. The rear driver side door lock stopped working shortly after I bought this car. It’s really a wakeup call for so called German quality. I should have just looked for the cars that sold most in US and pick a used model.
This is a known problem, but VW does not have a recall of the door actuator. Ridiculously cost-prohibitive repair. This could be a serious safety issue. Can not send this car to college with my daughter. It would be too easy for someone to get into and hide in the back seat or steal the car and possessions inside the car. We keep nothing personal in the car. Either this is a lemon, or VWs do not stand the test of time. I have had different model Hondas with twice the mileage that are more reliable. This is not the only problem the car has had.
Had nothing but trouble with this car. 1) had to replace CV boots at $600. 2) Replaced sagging Headliner at $800 3) electrical problem with the doors, rear doors do not lock but set the alarm off when opened 4) Replaced rear brake caliper at $800. Paint problem all over the exterior. Pain in the ass to replace air filter or oil filter
