Jetta Sedan 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 87,850 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

I recently purchased a used 2006 VW Jetta with a DSG transmission and 2.5 L motor. The vehicle lurches and loses power as if gas had been switched off or the transmission has bogged down and seems to occur when shifting. It also happens from a dead stop, with the vehicle lurching forward with considerable force when the transmission engages. This has occurred on both very hot days, 100+ degrees, and also during evening and nighttime while driving on surface streets and on the interstate though on the interstate it doesn’t lurch forward when power is restored. The vehicle usually regains power 3-5 seconds after loss of power most times this occurs but there were a few times the vehicle stalled. Once this happens this condition continues to occur more with increasing frequency until the vehicle is not drivable. Once the vehicle has cooled off for a period of time, 2 or more hours, it drives with out this problem for the same amount of time, or less, as when driven from a cold start. This has also occurred while passing and forced me to cancel my pass of a slower moving vehicle and merge into the traffic which on one occasion had closed ranks leaving me no room to merge. I have only been driving this vehicle for about a week.

Jetta TDI

  • Automatic transmission
  • 204,000 miles

The car stalled while driving and several indicator lights came on including the glow plug, oil and check engine lights. I was able to restart it after a minute but the check engine light was still on until the next day. Took it to the dealership with no indicator lights on and they kept it for 3 days and fixed the EGR cooler for the turbo for $850 and that solved exactly ZERO problems that I had. About 3 weeks after it was fixed the first time I started stalling on me again and the same indicator lights came on. Now for the "discounted" price of $300 they are fixing the engine speed sensor. I'll update if possible to say whether the new "fix" worked.

Jetta TDI Diesal

  • Automatic transmission
  • 68,000 miles

The engine light comes on and stays and the dealer tells me that they do not no why the car stops while driving, they say you must keep the car running as it stalls which does not make sense for them to find the problem. I have brought the car in and in and they still can not find out why the car just stops. A safety problem that can not be found! I wounder what they do all day for their customers. They don't care about safety.

Just bought three weeks ago, car stalls and does not want to take off, I see volkswagen continues with reliablity problems, if I would of known jettas were this bad I would not have bought this lemon. Dealer does not want to take car back and is acting like an idiot. Didnt even apologize for the inconvinience.
