VW and Diesels are suppose to be great long lasting safe cars. this particular problem could have cost my son his life..the motor dropped down... fortunately at a red light and he coasted into a parking lot. After trips to several mechanics, including a VW service dept at a dealership ..we have been told the same thing - the motor mounts are broke and the only way to repair it is to replace block and/or motor. This is a cost of approx $ 3100-3700 for just the parts not including labor. Now keep in mind the motor runs great..just will not stay intact in the car. I have contacted VW but to no avail ..yet
