Have to take the door off again. As found on VWvortex.com there is a repair for the circuit board in the door. There are pictures of the factory solder failing on the circuit board. You can remelt and/ or add additional solder to the broken contacts on the circuit board to fix the door locks or forever reach across to unlock someone passenger door.
